I love playing Halo 2, but why are there so many young white kids from the south (Bible belt) playing the game? The point I am trying to make is that I have heard the "N" word so many times it makes me sick. I even hear hatred towards Mexicans a lot too. Also, whenever somebody comes on speaking another language, why are they told to shut up and speak English. Are these young Americans this ugly? Now I can see where the term, "Ugly American" came from. Where are all the players from the East and west cost of the USA? We need more players to stand up to these racists. I am sure there must be some open minded southerners out there, why no let your voice be known.

I am getting a bit off topic here, but I just wanted to talk about one issue. Humans seem like self destructive creatures. Once one person has hurt one person, it is more likely that person will go on to hurt others. Either in physical way, or an emotional way. I like to think of this as the hurt cycle. I am a firm believer that once this cycle starts, it can never be stopped. I would even go as far to say that some people like to be hurt, but they would never admit it. The only way to get by in life is to make the best of it, and try and suppress the hurt. I think it is a rather dark viewpoint, but true in my mind none the less.

Internet Privacy, the end of us all?

The Facebook revolution has caused a new phenomenon, some good, but in my opinion, a lot of it bad. I personally know of many people who have decided to stay away from facebook all together. Others who made accounts, but latter decided to erase them. And then in the end, decided to reactivate them. Basically the problem stems from the fact that when you sign up, all the privacy features are switched off. This means that people can basically view what somebody is doing at any time of day. Switching these privacy features on is a little difficult. I believe they did this on purpose.
Knowing what everybody is doing, at every time of the day is great if you are on perfect terms with all your friends, but in life, this is hardly ever the case. Take the example of ex-boyfriends/ ex-girlfriends, or god forbid, deranged stockers.
This all ties back to one important necessity for all human beings. A certain degree of privacy. In my opinion, people can expose about 90% of them selfs to everybody around them, but they need to save about 10% to them selfs. Be it, a fantasy life they have created or just to communicate with people from their past, or even strangers. This is a gray area, and I am sure some may not agree, but as long as certain lines are never crossed, I think it's alright.
If you don't maintain this 10% to yourself, the stress of being constantly exposed can be too much. A little mystery can create enough spice to get through life.
So weather it's facebook, or standard email, it is essential to keep this part of our lives hidden to the rest of the world. If we spend more time than ever on computers these days, it is important to keep more of our internet activities private. This give us a place to escape to when we need it.

Daily ramblings.

Hunter S Thompson is one man I would like to learn more about. I saw his book in Chapters the other day, and one line stood out for me. He said "It Never Got Weird Enough for Me", at the end of the book I believe. Flipping through I remember one pictures very well. One of a him holding a shotgun and a blazing fire. I don't know why, but this image seemed to capture the essence of how this man lived his life.
Many years ago, when I was in Japan, I had a tradition of going to the video store, and renting random videos because there was such a limited selection. But I was forced to watch so many videos I would never choose normally, and that opened up my mind so much. I know it sounds like a cliche, but it is so good for anybody to be pushed outside of their comfort zone.
Anyway, one of those videos I rented was Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas with Johnny Depp. I guess I connected with the movie because it kinda reflected my crazy lifestyle when I was living in Osaka, and more weekends than I would like to remember were one long, crazy blur.
As I ramble on, (that is why I call this my daily ramble), I think about another quotable from Eminem. It's from the song Lose Yourself, and the lyric is "A normal life is boring; but superstardom's close to post-mortem". I reflect upon this lyric because it summarises my goals in my life as I move through my 30's. One can't help to think that the only way to secure the kind of lifestyle that gives you the freedom to have what you want, when you want it is to become a celebrity or a household name. Being absurdly rich would be incredible too, but nothing would beet being a celebrity, at least for a time. Look at people like Donald Trump or Paris Hilton. What do they have in common one might ask. Well, they are both non traditional celebrities. Non traditional celebrities seem to be the trend these days. I would say that a traditional celebrity would be a movie star or a popular musician in my opinion. I don't want to get into sport athletes, because I think that is something different.
Getting back to my point, lets look at Donald Trump first. Basically, he is just a successful real estate investor. But his own self ego and his desire to be a celebrity is so great, that he will go to any extent to get his face out there. I guess he must thank god for the coming of reality television. Reality TV is a perfect vehicle for somebody like him, and...... this bring us to our second person, Paris Hilton who has used reality TV, to get her career off the ground. Even though all her movies and music have been less than inspirational, she truly is a PR genius. Being from one of the richest American families got her foot in the door, but she sure has done a good job at keeping that door open.
As I wrap up my ramble, I would like to tie in my last point. I am sure the last thing anybody wants to hear is another, "my key to life is", sorta philosophy, but here I go. One of the keys to life is to balance between two elements. Trying not to hurt the people you care about, but at the same time going after what you want, when you want it, just like many celebrities have the luxury of doing. I often think about it when I lie in bed. I CAN NOT survive if I have to live a "normal" life, but at the same time, I MUST respect and try not to hurt the people who care so much about me. This is the most challenging thing I (and probably half the world) have ever had to face. So as I romanticize quotes from Eminem, and dream of about the lifestyles of non traditional celebrities, at the end of my life, I may be thinking to myself, "It Never Got Weird Enough for Me" sigh..........
PS, I don't entirely believe in the philosophy of the last quote, but I just thought it would sound so cool to end my ramble with a Hunter S Thompson quote.

I look at TV shows like Gene Simmons Family Jewels and Hugh Hefner's reality show and I wonder what kind of message is being sent out in Western society. It seems that wealthy unmarried people in our society are somehow looked at as cool. I will finish this article latter.

Wow, sometimes it must just suck to be famous. Us common people can get over something like this in time, but when a big star makes a blunder like this, and it is captured on film, well, It can be on the net forever. With all these media devices around, it must be more stressful than ever for the big stars.
When I saw this photograph in a magazine two days ago, I can say it was one of the most memorable celebrity photographs I have ever seen. Poor guy must have his head in the ground like an Ostridge. I have been this drunk a couple of times myself, so thank god I am not famous. lol.

The Police met once again at the Grammy Awards and now have headed into one of the most anticipated reunion tours to date. I can describe the latest release from Pop sensation Evanescence for you with just one word… Outstanding!

The CD opens with a great track, Sweet Sacrafice, that I anticipate will be heard on radio stations everywhere, and deservedly so. It’s a really nice track.

I give Open Door my highest recommendation. It just plain belongs in any serious music collectors collection regardless of genre preference. It shows a slower more mellow side of Evanescence that kind of surprised me in a very nice way. I found it to be a nice new sound, it's just a real departure from their previous release Fallen. It should be noted as well that lead singer Amy Lee does a superb job with the lyrics throughout the entire collection.

While the entire CD is really very good the truly standout tracks are Call Me When You're Sober [track 2], Lithium [track 4], and Lose Control [track 9].

My SmoothLee Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 8, Like You. It’s a great track!

If you take the words Bombay and Hollywood and put them together you have the film capital of India Bollywood. Shilpa Shetty has been nominated for 4 Filmfare (Indian Oscar) Awards. The stunningly beautiful 31 year old Shilpa Shetty and her knockout actress younger sister Shamita Shetty are the Indian version of the Hilton sisters.

Richard Gere is a peace activist like Mahatma Gandhi. Richard Gere traveled to India last week to throw his fame behind AIDS Awareness and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, PETA. Talk about preaching to the converted. In India, which has over a billion people, the Hindu people idolize the cows as sacred beings. It is illegal to kill or injure a cow. The cow is the Divine Symbol of Mother Earth giving freely milk, cheese, butter, dung for fertilizer and dung smoke a powerful anti pollutant and never asking for anything in return. How do you fit one billion people into a mental institution?

Bollywood makes more films and sells more tickets worldwide than Hollywood. Each Bollywood film is a colorful musical three hours long with an intermission for popcorn. Butter good, beef bad. The United States just sold 8 nuclear reactors to India for the purpose of making more nuclear bombs. The primary dispute between Hindu India and neighboring Muslim Pakistan is that Muslims eat beef, even though only kosher beef. A Hasidic Rabbi like the Christian and Muslim Messiah Jesus Christ must ensure that the cow is slaughtered according to the Brooklyn rules and regulations of the Kashruth Council of the United States of America.

In Afghanistan the people, including the Taliban soldiers wait in line for hours to buy tickets to the Bollywood movies. Suicide bombing the market place is allowed but bombing the cinemas is strictly verboten. “Zeig Heil!”, said Charlie Chaplin.

Richard Gere and Shilpa Shetty are standing on a stage in India last week before a cheering and adoring crowd. Everyone’s a critic. The chances of Richard Gere returning to Bombay again to face 6 years in some rat hole prison are the same as Larry Birkhead taking Dannielynn back to Nassau for the June 6th custody hearing once he has her safe and sound and under the family court jurisdiction of California and the United States of America Supreme Court.
